Once the eclipse crowds cleared out, we and the Ay

Once the eclipse crowds cleared out, we and the Ayala crew decided to hike El Faro at 5:30 am to get a head start on the day ☀️ This hike is listed on TripAdvisor as the 6th most popular attraction in Mazatlán out of 64!

‘Faro’ means lighthouse in Spanish and this picturesque hill has the world’s highest natural lighthouse perched atop its peak 🚨 The lighthouse was first built in 1879 and is still in operation to this day, sitting 500 ft above sea level. The panoramic views from the top are spectacular; you can literally see the entire city, coast, and the Sierra Madre mountains in the background - but the best part of the hike (in my opinion) is visiting with all the cats that call it home! 😻

Boat work in a bikini seems to make it less tedious 😌 While in Mazatlán we made use of the slip space to knock out some long overdue projects like oiling the bulwark which has been my pet project since installation in 2020. With the emotional ups and downs of this season, it was an easy thing to neglect but after seeing how awful it looked in recent photos we decided to give it some love… and im so glad we did 🥰 It’s amazing what a little varnish, oil, or polish can do for a boat… and your emotional state 😉 How do you care for your wood aboard, if any?

Mazatlán is a stunning place which is why we stuck around a little while longer after the eclipse excitement was over 🌝 Luckily not everyone disappeared though. We had some more time with @singletack to make some mems 🫶

When we sailed to Mazatlán for the eclipse we only knew one thing: it was going to be a good time 😎 What we DIDN’T know is that we were about to stay in an apartment-turned-party-pad and befriend some rad people that we look forward to seeing again soon 🤞This little recap reel doesn’t do the experience justice, so keep an eye out for upcoming blog posts and a YouTube video (eventually) 🌚
