Dear Kessel,
Although I couldn’t find a name for my own boat, yours came to me with ease. At the time, your captain and I shared very little in common aside from a love for Star Wars — but little did we know that we had far more in common than either of us realized & would eventually become the best of friends.

You were more than just a neighbor at the marina. You were a part of our story, a member of a chosen family built on the docks. Your crimson sails stood as a beacon on every horizon, painting the skyline with bold, unforgettable color. Your Coors Light flag waved proudly at every anchorage, an unspoken invitation to camaraderie and shared stories under starlit skies. For two seasons, we shared the journey with you, chasing never-ending sunsets south of the border. Every mile, every anchorage, every sunrise felt like a step toward something greater — not just for our crews but for you too, Kessel.

Inside your hull, we made memories that will be cherished for a lifetime. I’ll never forget the laughter echoing in your cabin, the salty sea breeze drifting in as we all shared meals and swapped stories. Even after I helped clean your interior in preparation for your captain’s solo voyage across the ocean, I found more love for you hidden within your layers.

I am grateful for what you gave your captain. You gave him safety. You carried him across the vast, wild Pacific, where long days stretched into even longer nights. Through squalls and fair winds, you stood strong. You shielded him from the power of the sea, cradling him in bright blue waters that others can only dream of experiencing. You were his constant in an ever-changing world of water, and for that, you have my deepest gratitude.

Even though this marks the end of your time together, it is not the end of your story. Kessel, you were more than a vessel. You were a home, a guardian, and a symbol of freedom. You will be missed, but you will never be forgotten. Fair winds and following seas to you and your new crew. Thank you for being all that you were to us, and to Peter.
